My journey with matcha
Share
My journey with matcha began during my exchange semester in South Korea, where I first experienced the calming ritual of preparing and drinking this vibrant green tea. I have also traveled to Japan several times, exploring the rich traditions of Uji, the birthplace of premium matcha. One of the most memorable experiences was visiting Naoshima Island, a small Japanese island renowned for its contemporary art museums, outdoor sculptures, and architectural installations. Being surrounded by creativity and mindful design on Naoshima deepened my appreciation for mindfulness, aesthetics, and the artistry that I also find in matcha.
During the final phase of my Bachelor in Industrial Engineering, matcha became more than a beverage for me. Preparing and drinking matcha offered a moment of calm in an otherwise fast-paced life, helping me regain a sense of control and approach challenges more creatively.
Matcha has also been a bridge to connection. In a society that often emphasizes individuality, I found common ground with fellow matcha enthusiasts who share values like quality, mindfulness, and creativity. This shared appreciation fosters real human connection, something I deeply value.
I have always placed high importance on quality and creativity, and building a purpose-driven matcha business allows me to bring these values to life. It gives me fulfillment, a channel for my creativity, and a way to inspire mindfulness in others. And yes, I don’t enjoy coffee, which is why matcha has become my ultimate source of energy and focus.
